She founded and became involved with the Women's Franchise League, which advocated suffrage for both married and unmarried women. WebEmily Pankhurst, the leader of the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU), advocated a new strategy to obtain the publicity that she thought would be needed in order to obtain the vote.
