Web11 dec. 2011 · Install the cam gear only on it (no chain). Then spray the lifter faces and sides with WD40, and isntall. Mark the top of each lifter and bore. Then rotate the cam clockwise and look for the marks to move. It's only about 15-20° each lift cycle. If some dont turn, I'll swap a few arund until they all do. that's it. Web28 dec. 2006 · Take and measure lifters from different companies as you will find them to be different sizes and we have seen on many GM lifter bores that the lifter bores are not round and are not where they are suppose to be either unless it a new Bowtie block.

This was to promote rotation of the lifters, the lobes are slightly tapered and the lifters ran off center. GM did not change the lifter bore spacing when they went to roller lifters AFAIK. Web4 dec. 2014 · I only measured where I thought the wear would be and that was at the bottom parallel to the cam. Highest I got was 0.8761''. Lowest was 0.8753''. Also just measured my morel lifters and they where mainly 0.8742'' but got 0.8741-0.8743 for a few. That leaves me with approx 0.0011-0.0019'' clearance. It is also true that if if one gets carried away and hones out of specs, oil pressure will suffer and it is possible for the lifter to c-o-c-k (guess they have had trouble with that word... ) in the bore (s) and cause further valvetrain problems.
